Hello, I'm Elle and this is our little family business.
Solly Baby was born in the sewing nook of a little house in Salt Lake City right after I had my second child. I had always been a babywearing advocate but I was frustrated with other carriers that I'd used so, after buying my first serger on Craigslist, I went to work while my babies slept. After making my first line in my sewing nook and selling them all within the first few weeks, I decided that maybe I was on to something. I continued to rework the design and fabrics, turned my house upside down and into a factory with tape lining the living room floor for cutting guides and brought in local seamstresses to help.
As I created the design I was using our prototypes daily with my little boy, Solomon, which heavily influenced this process. Not only did it personalize the product for me, as wearing an infant is such an intimate experience and I wanted the aesthetic quality to reflect that, but wearing my son as I was working, running errands, and chasing my two-year-old at the same time, inspired very practical elements in the design.
Since this time, our family has moved to Southern California where we work with a small manufacturer where we are still able to oversee the production closely. We are proud that our business is able to support American factories, fabric mills, dye houses, and printers. We feel that we are able to offer a customized, superior product because of how closely linked we are with this process and our customers. With the help of many other people, we were able to create a truly beautiful, functional, and safe product that I am proud and excited to share with caregivers.
I am dedicated to continually perfecting this product and developing new products that bring caregivers closer to their little ones while always being mindful of design and style. Thank you for your support and encouragement and please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments. You can contact me directly by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
